Hindustan Photo Films Manufacturing Company Limited (HPF) is a Central Public Sector Enterprise, under the Department of Heavy Industry, incorporated in the year 1960, with a vision to make India self reliant in the field of Photo sensitised goods. HPF was the only integrated manufacturer of Photo sensitised goods in the whole of South East Asia. It was the only Company with the technology for manufacture of Medical X-ray, Industrial X-ray , Graphic Arts and Black and White Film products of international standards.

Due to the product / technology obsolescence in the wake of rapid development of digital technologies in Photography, the Company became unviable and was declared sick by BIFR during 1996. In 2014, the Government of India / CCEA approved the proposal to offer VRS at 2007 notional pay scale to all the remaining employees of the Company and to take further steps for the closure of the Company.

The BIFR’s recommendation for winding up of the Company was accepted by the Hon’ble High Court of Madras in August 2016. All the employees stand relieved from the rolls of the Company with effect from 30.6.2016 or earlier in different phases. Two executives from another CPSE have been deputed to take care of the security and protection of the assets of the company and to oversee other legal formalities until the assets, liabilities and books of records are taken over by the Official Liquidator. Take-over of the Company by the Official Liquidator is awaited.

Status of the Company: Company is under liquidation and in the process of being wound up .
